Bob graduated from Aston University in 1982, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and started a long and varied career starting in robotics and automation research at Lucas Industries leading to project management of a number of world class assembly automation projects, including engine and cylinder head assembly lines in Longbridge. Working at Chloride RWE, Bob was part of the Silent Power Industrialisation team building and operating a high energy Sodium Sulphur EV battery pilot facility. During his time at Silent Power Bob returned to Aston University attending the Business School attaining his MBA in 1991.

Over the last 25 years Bob has focused on automotive engineering and manufacturing at General Manager and Engineering Director level. Over this period, he has been involved in numerous engineering, design projects for all the major UK based OEM’s, launching products as diverse as interior air vents through to full exterior bumper systems.

In 2018 Bob set-up his own project and engineering services consultancy to support a range of clients. Projects taken on since forming BPL have included a 6-month project in Istanbul designing, installing and commissioning a carbon fiber PU filler coating cell dedicated to automotive spoilers. Through BPL, Bob supports short term or limited days per week projects for clients, thus delivering results that is flexible and affordable.

Working with Paul Wingrove at Nickleby on critical OEM projects in the past, we have joined once more to offer a complimentary service to small and medium sized manufacturers across Europe.
